Chiropractic Facts!

Chiropractic care in Calgary, and around the world, has come a long way in the last 100 years. The research continues to grow, and schools are becoming more evidence-based and producing amazing clinicians.


But despite this, a lot of people still don't "believe" it's effective. Psuedoscience some call it. But why?



Some of it is lack of information out there, some is fear of what exactly we do. But as more and more research comes out in support, there are some facts about chiropractic that are difficult to argue.


Let's talk about them! Here are research based facts and studies about the world of chiropractic!


  • This military study shows effective chiro care in helping those with low back pain.


  • This study cited by the American Chiropractic Association shows that chiropractic care is more effective than medical care. Another study published in Spine, found that 94% of chiropractic patients experienced a 30% reduction in their pain, compared to only 54% of the patients who only received traditional medical care.



  • The International Headache Society recognizes that most headaches are cervicogenic. This is pain that radiates from the neck into the head. They also report chiropractic care can be helpful in these types of headaches


  • Chiropractors are licensed, just like any other professional in the medical field. We go to school for 8 years, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, including at least 3 years of undergraduate work (most of us have a bachelors degree too). Chiro's also have to pass national board exams, and have a license to practice provided their province. Continuing education must be done each year at the time if renewal

Chiropractic care, when done by a licensed, evidence-based practitioner can be a safe and effective way to address neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Whether it's a headache, low back pain from pregnancy, growing pain in a child, or degenerative pain in your knees, having a chiropractor on your health care team can keep you moving!
